Doctors of the Ilizarov Center, Alexander Gubin and Konstantin Dyachkov, participated in the SICOT annual meeting. This year the 40th SICOT Orthopaedic World Congress took place in Muscat, Oman, from 4-7 December.
International Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology has now evolved into the largest orthopaedic society in the world with thousands of corresponding members from 119 countries speaking over 100 languages. As commented the SICOT President John Dormans, this Congress was a wonderful opportunity for young orthopaedic surgeons to take advantage of a wealth of knowledge in the form of workshops, lectures, free paper sessions, symposia and presentations on recent advancements in orthopaedics.
The program included three plenary lectures from famous surgeons of diverse fields in addition to seminars, symposia, video sessions and workshops. The prestigious SICOT Research Award papers will also be presented and selected.
Delegates from Kurgan presented several free-papers, including topics of “Historical and up to date stimulation of the distraction osteogenesis: research and practice in the Ilizarov Center”, “Complex radiological findings in congenital pseudoarthrosis of the tibia”, etc.
Alexander Gubin was nominated a National Representative from Russia, succeeding Nikolay Zagorodny to exercise the SICOT mission to promote advancement of science and the art of orthopaedics and traumatology at an international level for the improvement of patient care, development of research and education and to facilitate the exchange of professional experience and fellowship.
